FESTIVAL 10th ANNIVERSARY SPECTACULAR LINE UP

A Grammy winner, a chart topper, a BAFTA nominee, a Glastonbury performer and Jack the Ripper are just five of the attractions at this year’s Ramsgate Festival of Sound.

We present a sonic adventure exploring the creative and historic landscape of Ramsgate through music, film, art, poetry and performance. The festival runs from 20-28th July and features over 80 artists at various venues around the town.

This year’s highlights include Grammy winner Dame Evelyn Glennie with Trio HLK, chart topper David McAlmont (of McAlmont & Butler), BAFTA-nominated soundtrack impresario Simon Boswell & theAnd and singer Amy Montgomery, fresh from Glastonbury. “The festival has something for everyone,“ says producer Andrew Gibson. “International acts as well as local talent in both music and art. The festival attracts 20,000 visitors. It’s our 10th anniversary and it promises to be a very special festival.

The theme for the festival is ‘It’s A Matter Of Time’ and here’s some of the things to enjoy:

  • Wall to Wall featuring David McAlmont and Janette Mason
  • The Sonic Trail – 13 sound installations around Ramsgate Town and the Royal Harbour
  • Jazz: Sabina Desir with Jessica Lauren & DJ Hooch plus Neil Sparkes & Alex Hutton
  • Curated Heritage Talks: Sir Ernest Shackleton, Jack The Ripper, Art in the Pavilion and lots more, given by leading authors Maggie Gee and Nick Randall, Jacqui Ansell, Terry Prue and other expert speakers.
  • Local musicians Lunatraktors, Jake Argyle, Clare Pitt Wigmore, Ramsgate Hovercraft +.
  • Poetry, performance and stand-up lyrical wizardry with Things With Words.
  • World-class cabaret with the howling success that is Screaming Alley
  • Film screenings including Arcadia, director Paul Wright’s astonishing masterpiece
  • The Thanet SEA (Science Education & Art) project curated by Jasper Sharp
  • Exquisite experiential dining courtesy of House of Gastrophonics
  • Works by award-winning artists Emily Peasgood, Nicholas De Carlo and Helga Dorothea
  • Children’s theatre plus science, art and creative workshops
