Get involved

Ramsgate Arts runs its annual arts festival and other events throughout the year as funding and opportunity allow. Running the organisation, its planning, administration and promotion is all done by the voluntary team. Only the artists, facilitators and other costs for actual events are funded.
A Summer Squall is bringing a festive feel to the August Bank Holiday weekend through a variety of events. Music, theatre, visual arts, comedy, toy theatre, talks and workshops – there’ll be something to make you smile and something to make you think and maybe something that will change your life – just a little bit. It’s for everyone – visitors and locals – and anyone can get involved.
Since 2010 A Summer Squall has been organised by its loose organisation of volunteers with people contributing whatever they can. We are not a closed shop and we don’t have any paid workers, so we need your contribution – however small – it will all go to creating something really fun for the area. If you have a little time, energy, enthusiasm or money – however little – we can find a role for you. You can join the team and be reassured that your contribution will be valued.
What can I do?
Become a Member: we’ll keep you updated and invite you to social events – and you can choose what you want to contribute, whether for the festival itself or a bit of help organizing Member events with occasional bits of cooking, sending a few emails, giving a donation, helping in a fundraising team
Volunteering at events: we always need extra help ‘on the day’ at events
Ramsgate Carnival 24 July: got any useful skills like juggling? Or just walking in a group bashing something? We’ll be at the Carnival and we want to be out in force, with leaflets and a good atmosphere to promote the Squall!
A Summer Squall festival: over the weekend Friday 26 – Monday 29 August we’ll need stewards and gofers and people to answer the phones and give out leaflets and information. It could be you! And there’ll be a party for us all afterwards.
Project Group – open to anyone with ideas and enthusiasm and a couple of hours a week to help progress plans and bring the Squall to fruition – contact us for details of forthcoming meetings – and bring a bottle!
If you would like to get involved in any of these ways, then please contact us.
